One of my bucket list travel destinations (#1 is Aruba) is Italy (#2). I have seen pictures and watched movies and have ABSOLUTELY fallen in love with the country. I.Have.To.Go!
My favorite soccer team is Italy. I can't WAIT to visit the Italian country side or vineyards (ever since seeing Anthony Bourdain's - No Reservations while he visited OR after seeing "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrow years ago) and Sophia Loren, in my opinion, is one of the MOST gorgeous women that has ever walked this planet! My DREAM is to travel with my husband to Italy to enjoy the sites, the food, the smells, the 'feeling' of Italy. In my mind Italians are just the coolest people on the face of the Earth. Okay...there are MANY cool people on the face of this Earth, but Italians are freakin' cool, am I right?
Problem is, my husband has told me that if we make it there before his mother, there will be hell to pay (she's wanted to go forever apparently) LOL! Although her parents are both Italian, she's never been. She's Italian American, fiesty, beautiful, SMART and funny as all get out. I love her to death and I've totally lucked out with her as a mother-in-law. And YES - the woman can cook her BUTT off! OMG!!!! (so much so that when they come down to Texas from NH for Thanksgiving in a couple of months, I refuse to cook because I don't just don't measure up and I'm not going to embarrass myself by trying). Okay, I will cook "some" but I will be making excuses the whole time...
So until I am able to travel to one of my favorite destinations, I can at least "claim" to be Italian since my husband is 1/2, right? I received this mug from one of J's friends. It reads: "IBM - Italian by Marriage".
That's what I'M talking about! Oh if only...

Oh, and you love soccer.....um, I mean European football. Finally, another who can appreciate the fine( and I mean FINE) sport of football!!
Cute post!!
I love this post. I'm huge fan of Italy myself. I lived in Staten Island NY for about 8 years and there were tons of Italians there. I love their attitudes and style (and definitely food too). I studied Italian for 6 years and I have always wanted to go to Italy but never got a chance to. I too can't wait to go with my honey. My family always thought I would marry an Italian but I married a Dutchman instead. LOL. (no complaints though--my hubby is the best). I can also identify with having an awesome mother-in-law. I consider myself blessed too and she cooks up some great southern food--yum! By the way, I saw that you were part Japanese--cool. I'm 1/4 Chinese but you could never tell--lol!
My first true overseas trip (I don't count Mexico, since that's just over the border) was to Venice, and I loved it! I was able to go along with my husband and his class for one of his grad school electives, and it was an incredible trip -- I hope we get to go back one day, and I hope you get to travel there as well! (Take your MIL along :-)
BTW, I gave you a blog award because you and your blog are awesome. Come get it when you can :)
