Ugly Holiday Sweater - Our Take

So soon after I posted about the ugly sweater phenomenon, J came home and told me his office was having an Ugly Sweater Holiday party. The winner of the ugliest sweater contest will win an Apple iPad. J already has an iPad but, being the sweet man that he is, all he wanted to do was win the prize for me. I've never said I wanted an iPad and if I wanted to play with one, I can always just grab his (besides if I did have one, it would just end up a toy for the kids) but he thinks I need one.

Now being a creative person, he was not about to just go out and buy an ugly sweater. That's too easy. ANYONE could go out and buy one. No, he was going to make one. So he spent about a week concepting, sketching and designing the sweater. I have been helping him for the past three nights put everything together. And even though it didn't turn out completely as he'd dreamed/planned/hoped (he was really disappointed and bummed last night), I thought it came out pretty decent. Problem is, it's less "ugly" than it is just...gaudy. hahah

So without further ado, the sweater!

I wanted him to make a brown-ish stain under the butt (I know, juvenile, but I never said I was above the toilet humor). He declined my request, as you can see. This morning he modified the tinsel part a bit. He added two silver balls to each antler and cut the excess tinsel.

The other thing about this sweater you cannot see is, it makes noise. He took an audio Christmas card   that has Elvis singing "White Christmas", cut out the mechanism and placed it under his arm. When he raises his arm, the music goes off. Brilliant.

So I'll let you know how the contest goes. I just want him to win because he was really excited about it. I could care less about the iPad but, like I said, the kids would love it.
