So this past weekend my husband and I attended a couple's ball with my best friend, AngE and her husband, Eric in Oklahoma City. We've never done anything like this before but it was my friend's third time attending and she had raved about it so I thought - "Hey, why not?"

The Eye to Eye Sweetheart Ball is an annual couples event where you get to just enjoy being a couple and focus on each other. It was a church sponsored event, and although we do not belong to a church and usually try to avoid anything church-based (try to avoid the 'preachy' not spirituality), we did find ourselves getting a lot out of the event and found ourselves having a great time. It was nice to get away from the kids and the house and to just focus on the two of us for a change. We really enjoyed it. If I'd had a smaller camera (I broke my smaller one MONTHS ago and the husband won't let me get a new one yet since we still have the Rebel - the big professional one that doesn't fit easily in a purse) I would have had a lot more pictures from the actual dinner and activities during the event.
(And excuse the hair, please. We were running all kinds of late with the errands that AngE and I were making that day and by the time we finished, picked up the men and dropped off their kids, we had all of 40 mins. to get checked in to the hotel, showered, dressed, hair and make up done...my little curls fell with the humidity of the bathroom so...yeah. Not exactly the look I was going for but...whatevs! Didn't keep me from enjoying the night).

After the event, we went back to the hotel to change and everyone met up in our room (including two other couples we know) before we headed out for a night out. We took the courtesy limo to the bar and just acted like we had no sense (that's what happens to a group of parents who are fortunate enough to be kidless for a weekend). Let's just say, after dancing and a late night IHOP run, we didn't get back to the hotel until 5 a.m.! There were pictures taken from there but I'm sure you can imagine they are NOT
flattering. hahah

Fun times, indeed. My husband, especially, totally enjoyed the one on one together. He was super affectionate and loving (not that he isn't already, but this weekend he was so 10X over!
Me: melting like butter). He also wanted to make this an annual event moving forward which was a real shocker to me! I'm really looking forward to next year's event with him and we're also going to look into some more local couples groups to join.
The group also discussed our potential Summer couple's trip:
Vegas! Can.you.imagine?! By then I WILL have another compact point and shoot to document the trip because the pictures above DO.NOT.Capture.at.all. the amazing time we had - and Vegas - with my friends - will definitely be
sheer awesome-ness!

My husband and I had some time to ourselves this weekend and I literally felt like I was in Heaven!
